Balham has plenty of cafes to hang out in if you are looking for a leisurely day, there is also The Exhibit where you’ll find a diner, gallery, bar and cinema all in one space. Balham leisure centre is on Elmfield Road and there is Tooting Bec Lido close by.
Balham swimming pool has lots of natural light due to its high-vaulted ceilings, so it is the perfect place to relax and have a swim. There is some nightlife in Balham but if you are looking for busier nightlife there is nearby Aldwych, which you can reach within 30 minutes on the N155 night bus.

For lively nightlife head to ‘The Bedford’ home to the well known Banana cabaret.
In terms of good food you are spoilt for choice in Balham, there is ‘Franco Marco’ for pizza, ‘The Paddyfield’ for Thai, ‘Tacuba’ for Mexican street food, ‘Ciullo’s’ for Italian and ‘The Cattle Grid’ for steak and red wine. ‘Harrisons’ brassiere is owned by the famed Rick Stein and Sam Harrison, if you are looking to go somewhere that little bit special. ‘Gazette Balham’ is perfect for French delicacies and ‘Milk’ is extremely popular for coffee and cake.
